Finance and Accounts Department is committed to providing efficient and effective sourcing and disbursement of the Commission’s funds through the practice of sound Financial Management and Compliance with relevant extant rules and regulations that always translate to successful performance.
Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and accounting code by all staff in the Account department
Adequate supervisions of the disbursement of funds and proper monitoring and accounting revenue where necessary
Advising the accounting officer on all financial matters as well the more technical provisions of these regulations and other treasury and finance circulars
Maintaining proper accounting records such as books of accounts, main and subsidiary ledgers.
Ensuring prompt redness of all returns e.g consolidation account (monthly transcripts) bank reconciliation statement, revenue and expenditure returns as prescribed in these regulation
Liaising with the Accountant General from time to time when in doubt in the interpretation of the provisions of these regulations in the performance duties.
Computing and defending of the budget proposals and ensuring effective budgeting control matching/comparing budget figures with the actual expenditure or revenue as the case may be and advise the accounting officer appropriately.
Ensuring the existence of an effective audit query unit section to Office of the Accountant General, Office of the Auditor General and Public Account Committee.
