PERSONS WITH DISABLITIES, WORST VICTIMS OF CORRUPTION:- GUFWAN In the quest to secure the future of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, Chief Ayuba Gufwan has reiterated that corruption remains the main challenge bedeviling the livelihood of Nigerians, especially Persons with Disabilities. The Executive Secretary made this assertion during a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission recently in Abuja. Addressing the Executive Chairman of the Commission and members of his top Management team, the ES seized the platform to commend them on their unalloyed struggle to curb corruption which he described as the "hydra headed monster eating deep into the very fibres of our system" "I want to sincerely appreciate your doggedness in confronting this major challenge in every sector of our lives and also to let you know that persons with disabilities are the most affected by this menace" he said. According to the ES, persons with disabilities suffer lack of basic infrastructure due to numerous cases of misappropriation and embezzlement of public funds meant for the good of the people. The Disability Boss enjoined the Management of the Financial Crime Commission not to relent in their efforts and to stay focused on the ultimate goals of eradicating corruption from the anals of the Nigerian society. In his response, the Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Dr. Ola Olukoyede expressed his Commission's delight at the visit and equally reassured the Disability Commission of a robust partnership in combating any forms of financial crimes against members of the Disability community. "I am using this opportunity to reassure you of my Organization's readiness to respond as quick as possible to any distress call from your office" he reassured . The EFCC Boss later confirmed his commitments towards the partnership by decorating the Executive Secretary of the Disability Commission, Ayuba Gufwan with an Ambassadorial emblem and Award of the Anti- Corruption Unit.
