To ensure adequate and efficient inclusion of the Persons with disabilities in the coming up major events in the country like the general election, the next census and other programs of the nation, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities- NCPWD, Nigeria organized two days stakeholders’ workshop in Abuja. The Honorable Minister of Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs , Haj Sadiya Umar Farouq who was represented by the National Coordinator of National Social Investment Management System (NASIMS) Portal (NSIP) Dr Bindir expressed delight seeing how the commission and the stakeholders organized themselves towards archiving a common goal, he stressed for the inclusion of PWD’s in decision making and affirmed the percentage of the PWD’s in NSIP. Declaring the workshop open, the Executive Secretary of the commission Mr. James David Lalu affirmed the importance of persons with disabilities in fully taking part in the coming up 2023 general election. He further seeks for the continues cooperation of the stakeholders especially towards attaining success in certifying persons with disabilities in Nigeria through the use of the NCPWD application which is already available on the google play store and the apple store. Among people that graced the Stakeholders Forum on Disability Inclusion Projects were State Commissioner of Women affairs, Abia state, Taraba State, State Commissioner of Social Development Zamfara State, Members of the NCPWD governing council, disabilities association Presidents, Vice Presidents, Secretaries from the 36 states of Nigeria, among many others.
