NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABLITIES PRESS RELEASE GUFWAN SALUTES DISABILITY COMMUNITY ON THE EVENT OF NIGERIA'S INDEPENDENT ANNIVERSARY As Nigeria marks the 64th Independence anniversary today 1st October, 2024 in Abuja, the Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Chief Ayuba Gufwan identifies with the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and all the clusters of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria. "As we celebrate this milestone, the most invaluable hallmark to uphold is unity of purpose. Our strength lies in our unity. We must continue to work together in the pursuit of peace, security, and prosperity for all Nigerians, especially persons with disabilities and other susceptible groups" he said. The ES further commended President Tinubu for his unwavering support towards the welfare of Persons with disabilities in Nigeria. Reflecting on Mr. President's assent to the Instrument of Ratification of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Africa, which was adopted by the Thirtieth Ordinary Session of the Assembly, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on the 29th day of January, 2018, Gufwan opined that team work is a key to achieveing the desired change.
